Did you Know? ...........When a customer trades in a vehicle to a Dealer in Ontario it is mandatory that the Customer and Dealer fill out a Trade in Disclosure contract. This contract documents the vehicles history with information of any accident, major repair and existing problems (i.e. Brake are worn out etc...) with the vehicle. If a Customer knowingly does not disclose this information, they can be held accoutable by the Dealer and OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council). A copy of this contract is passed on to the new buyer of that vehicle for their protection on that purchase. If the same customer was to sell the vehicle privately then it is "buyer beware". You do not have the same protection buying a private sale as you would through a Dealer. The 13% HST is now charged on any private sale. The 13% HST is collected when you transfer that vehicle into your name at any Ontario Drivers and Vehicles office. Why take the risk with a private seller??
